Course Details

This course provides comprehensive training in seamanship, cargo handling, maintenance work on deck, operation and maintenance of machinery, swimming, physical drills, workshop training, rope and mast climbing, lifesaving appliances usage, fire fighting exercises, and ship visits. It prepares candidates for roles such as Ordinary Seaman, Wiper, and further progression to Able Seaman or Motorman.

Eligibility Criteria

Pass in 10th Standard from a recognized Board with Science and Mathematics as subjects.

Minimum Marks:

  • 40% aggregate in the 10th Standard
  • 40% marks in English in 10th or 12th Standard

Note:

Candidates must be medically fit as per DG Shipping standards. A valid passport is mandatory.

The reference date for calculation of the age will be 2025-08-01.

Eye-Sight:

Unaided vision of 6/6 in both eyes; no visual aids permitted.

Eye Health:

Normal color vision; no squint or eye disease.

Physical Fitness:

Candidates must meet the physical standards as per M.S. Medical Examination of Seafarers Rules, 2000.
