The Advanced Shipboard Management (ASM) course equips seafarers holding a Chief Mate (FG) Certificate of Competency with the knowledge and skills required for the role of Master on Foreign Going vessels. Batch Strength Policy
As per D G Shipping Training Circular No 4 of 2028 MTI’s are directed not to conduct any batch, if the batch strength is less than 25% of the approved intake capacity granted by the Directorate.

Mandatory Requirements
- Hold a Certificate of Competency as 1st Mate of a foreign going ship issued by Government of India
- Should complete approved sea -going service for a period of not less than 12 months as Chief Officer or 18 months as 2nd officer after obtaining 1st Mate CoC.
